What it does
This bill would classify any consumer product containing 10% or more sodium nitrite by weight as a "banned hazardous product" under the Consumer Product Safety Act, effectively prohibiting its retail sale to individuals. The ban would take effect 90 days after enactment. It would not apply to industrial or commercial uses, nor to food products, drugs, devices, cosmetics, meat, poultry, or egg products that already contain sodium nitrite as a regulated ingredient.
