What it does
This bill would clarify that existing Clean Air Act grants (Sections 103 and 105) can be used to purchase portable air sensors for wildfire smoke monitoring. It would also create a new competitive grant program ($10 million per year, FY2027–2032) and expand existing EPA air sensor loan programs to underserved regions, including tribal lands. The EPA would be required to provide technical assistance to grant recipients and to develop standardized quality assurance templates within 180 days of enactment.
